1. Connect the wire of the rain gauge to the jack of the Rain Meter  
2. Observing the correct polarization, insert 2 x AA, IEC LR6  
batteries into the compartment at the back of the Rain Meter and  
replace the cover.  
3. All segments of the LCD will light up briefly. Then 0.00 inch or  
0.00mm (default in inch units) will be displayed in all 3 counters.  
If the “0.0” is not displayed after a few seconds, remove the  
batteries and wait for at least 10 seconds before reinserting them.  
4. Place the rain gauge in an appropriate location (wire length is 33  
feet/ 10 meters)  
Note:  
When opening the battery cover make sure that the batteries do not  
spring free from the contacts since this will cause start and transmission  
problems.  
Battery Change:  
It is recommended to replace the batteries in the unit on an annual basis  
to ensure optimum accuracy.

Keys Function:  
The simple design of this product features two RESET keys.  
RESET 1 Key:  
counter 1 to “0”  
Press for 5 seconds to reset the rainfall data of

Pressing both the RESET 1 and RESET 2 keys:  
Changes the display between inch and mm  
Display of rainfall data:  
When raining, the rainfall data will be collected through the rain gauge  
and transmitted to the Rain Meter (receiver) in counter 1, 2, and  
“AUTO”.  
Counter 1 & 2  
The rain quantity data will be displayed in counters 1 and 2. New rain  
data will be added to the previous records and unless the counters are  
manually reset by pressing RESET 1 or RESET 2 key, the rain data will  
increase continuously to a maximum of 999.99 inch or 9999.9 mm.  
Above this amount, the data in counters 1 and 2 will be overflowed and  
start from 0.  
Counter “AUTO”  
The rain quantity data will also be displayed and added to the previous  
recorded data in the “AUTO” counter. The rain data cannot be reset  
manually.  
 
Note: If no rain is recorded during a period of 2 hours the  
“AUTO” counter will display the last recorded data. The  
“AUTO” counter will automatically reset to 0.00 inch or 0.0 mm  
when rain begins again.  
Auto Off Function:  
The Rain Meter will automatically power OFF when no rain has been  
recorded the last 12 hours and no keys have been pressed during that  
period.  
Note: When measurable rain begins again or a button is pressed  
the Rain Meter will automatically power ON and the counters  
will display:  
Counter 1 and 2:  
New rain data will be collected and added to the last  
record before the Rain Meter was automatically powered  
down.  
Counter AUTO:  
The counter will automatically reset to 0.00 inch or 0.0  
mm and begin displaying current rain data.  
Positioning The Rain Meter:  
The Rain Meter can be positioned on a flat surface or on a wall.  
Foldout Table Stand  
The foldout table stand is located on the backside of the  
Rain Meter. Carefully pull out the stand and place the  
Rain Meter in the desired location.  
Wall Mounting  
Place a screw in the desired location leaving the  
head extended about ¼” from the wall. Hang the  
Rain Meter on the screw ensuring that the Rain  
Meter locks into place.  
 
Positioning The Rain Gauge  
Position the connected rain gauge outdoor to collect rainfall data  
(maximum length of wire: 33 feet/ 10m). Ensure that the rain gauge is  
placed in a secure and flat location where it can properly collect properly  
rain quantity without obstruction. Ensure also that the rain gauge is  
securely mounted at the appropriate location otherwise it may not  
transmit accurate rainfall data.  
Maintenance  
Avoid placing the units in locations prone to extreme  
temperatures, vibration and shock since these may cause  
damage and inaccurate readings.  
When cleaning the display and casing of the Rain Meter  
use a soft damp cloth only. Do not use solvents or  
scouring agents as they may mark the casing and LCD.  
Do not submerge the Rain Meter in water.  
Immediately remove all low powered batteries to avoid  
leakage and damage. Replace only with new batteries of  
the recommended type.  
Please do not make any attempt to make any repairs to the  
units. Return them to their original point of purchase for  
repair by qualified personnel. Opening and tampering  
with the units will invalidate the warranty.

Before sending the Weather Station in for repairs, contact La Crosse Technology. The  
Weather Station will be repaired or replaced with the same or similar model.  
This warranty does not cover any defects resulting from improper use, unauthorized  
repairs, faulty batteries, or the Weather Stations inability to receive a signal due to any  
source of interference.
